This week I worked on Monday night for the filming of the November Call the Doctor episodes. For the first episode I sat with Ben to watch him produce the show live. It was pretty cool to watch – when Paola was running out of topics to talk about Ben could tell her through her earpiece what to say next. For the second show, I did audio with Neil again, which involves keeping the microphone levels steady and turning the audio for the opens and music on/off or adjusting their volumes.
There was an issue with the script in the open for the second episode – whoever wrote the script didn’t fact check and the number of reported cases of leukemia was wrong, so we had to have Paola recut the audio for that open. On Tuesday, I had to substitute the audio from the first open with the new correct cut. She spoke too slow though, so I had to cut out some empty space and fit together parts of the original with the new one, which was difficult only because she was wearing two different outfits. So, since the part we had to fix was on camera, I left that. But, I used the audio from the original when there was B roll playing, because it was quicker paced and I knew her different outfit wouldn’t be on camera – and there were no errors in the script at that point. I also had to re-export the promos once I put updated lower thirds on them, because of the rebranding happening on Nov. 5.
For the rest of the week I just worked on finishing up the promos for November.
