This week I worked on starting a calendar of posts that we can upload to Instagram throughout the coming weeks. Using the website Plann, I can upload my content and write captions and tags before actually posting, and I can schedule what will post one what days or even make it post when my followers are most active, which is pretty cool.
My plan is to turn the IG feed into more of a showcase for the company’s portfolio, so potential partners can view our work without having to visit the website externally because at present there isn’t too much portfolio work on the feed. Our plan involves creating color schemes/themes in sequences of 3 (so 3 posts per campaign/project). To create cohesive themes and have the posts line up and look like they’re part of a sequence on the grid, I’m establishing common elements on the first frame (if it’s a video) or on the photo itself.
To create these posts, I’m downloading the company’s video content and exporting frames from videos to either use as a photo to post by itself, or to add into a collage that I create using Canva. For videos, I cut out some of the footage and piece it back together to create sort of highlights of the project piece, but condensed into a 15-30 second video that is optimum for social media users with short attention spans. I’ve also been using color mattes for either beginning or end frames combined with company logos I’ve color-coordinated in Photoshop to develop that cohesive theme throughout posts of the same project. For example (I haven’t posted any of these yet so I won’t post the photo yet), for the Lowes campaign video, I used the blue Lowes logo and mainly black dominating background so when the 3 Lowes posts line up in a row, the black and blue theme makes it obvious those posts go together and are part of one cohesive project. Each caption – for the most part – also contains a call-to-action to visit the website to see more of our work or join our team.
Finally, I began researching additional brands that we may hope to work with in the future. As Ezra is a woman-owned, forward-thinking company that strives to give platforms to those underrepresented within the industry, I have begun looking into rising forward-thinking, minority-owned and environmentally conscience businesses in LA, NY and other cities throughout the country.
