This week has been very engagement-based, meaning that I’ve spent nearly the entire week on Instagram interacting with brands. I have also downloaded a followers engagement tracker, because Jillian wanted to reduce the amount of accounts that we follow (specifically those that don’t follow us back and/or haven’t posted in a long time). So, being that over 1,500 accounts did not follow us back, this week I’ve been on and off unfollowing people whenever I think of it. I ran into a weird little Instagram glitch that I didn’t know existed – after unfollowing around 600 people over the course of several hours, I was incredibly frustrated when I refreshed the company’s profile and over 100 of the accounts had returned to my “following” list. After doing some research, I found out that Instagram only lets you unfollow a certain amount of accounts a day, and accounts should be unfollowed in a one-every-30-seconds fashion so that IG doesn’t think you’re performing shady activity and shadowban you. This is frustrating, being that I still have to unfollow over 600 accounts (which will now take me multiple days), but good to know nevertheless.
Apart from that, I’ve been researching more about up and coming or prominent women or minority-owned businesses and brands in NY and LA and leaving comments and likes on their Instagram pages encouraging them to check out our content, explaining who we are and how we can tell their brand story.
